My First T&T Carnival[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]My first trip to Trinidad and Tobago carnival was in 2012. I live in London, UK and made a last minute plan with a friend to go and experience Trinidad and Tobago carnival. We had a week to get ready but my friend was unable to make it at the last minute due to some family emergency. I decided to go alone, I had no friends or family in Trinidad but felt ‘Life is too short’, just go!!
My flight to Trinidad was amazing, i met some nice people on the flight and we kept in touch when we got there. My hotel was terrible !! At the time i was booking, all the good hotels were fully booked so i had to settle for the left overs. My new friend from my flight (who sat next to me) sent me a message saying she was going to pick up her costume so i decided to meet her there to have a look at the different types of costumes and just to move around the city.
While we were queuing for the costume, we met some members from the NoSleepMas group. They had come to pick up some costumes for themselves and others. They were really nice and friendly. They gave us a lift back to our hotel and invited us to the parties (fete’s). We have stayed friends ever since, meeting up every year for carnival. They showed us the ropes: what to do, where to get our tickets, where to stay, the culture and history of the place.
I’ve been to Trinidad & Tobago carnival 4 times now and I love every moment of it. Watch this space !![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_media_grid grid_id=”vc_gid:1465570167696-4c4341fc-17b8-2″ include=”334,293,333″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
